LAND MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS IN UGANDA Land management is part and partial to the realization of Uganda's vision of 2040. Given the majority of people depend on agriculture to earn a living, secure land security in the country is one of the essential elements that land professionals and other stakeholders should critically look into. Land tenure refers to one's right to own, live and use land. Uganda has had a very complex land tenure system dating back to colonial times. One complex tenure system is Mailo where there are both tenants and landlords on the same piece of land. The existence of this system has caused lots of landlessness among the poor people who mainly are squatters on the said land and this has therefore hampered economic development so much in the country.
